Architecture gives order and logic to the natural and built environment. Our builtUNBUILT ideas develop from three principle sources: people, purpose, and place. Without any one of these, there is no logic, there is no order, and there is no architecture. With intent, our ideas challenge preconceptions, shifting and enriching our sensual awareness through unexpected discoveries to offer new perspectives—to see the world from a different point of view.

While built ideas offer visceral gratification, unbuilt work is often the ultimate evidence and legacy for architects as agents of change. It is with awareness of this complementary dichotomy that the exhibit will bruder+PARTNERS builtUNBUILT was conceived. This gallery is intended as a quiet and reflective point of departure to the world beyond, where the work lives. Our studio has selected sixty works: 30 built, 30 unbuilt, from over 400 commissions that the visitor can engage with map in hand.

Complementary to this journey is your ability to view, by appointment, the conceptual sketches, construction documents, project photographs, and files in the will bruder+PARTNERS Archive at the Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts and Architecture Library.
