A granite outcrop overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on the North Shore of Boston is the setting for this multi-level ‘spiral’ pavilion. While almost disappearing into the geology and landscape, the architecture is given form via a marriage of multiple curved arcs in both plan and section. The arrival sequence of the house draws you through the intimacy of a sheltered ‘grotto’ to the infinity of the ocean’s limitless horizon beyond.

The program calls for a ‘crescent shaped’ great living space, five bedroom suites and a indoor resistance swimming pool and work out room. A carefully scaled and proportioned series of choreographed spaces, that mix inside and outside opportunities, are enhanced by a palette of stone, reflective plasters, simply detailed glazing systems, wood and color. Together they create a comfortable living environment for residents and guests alike.
